Concrete cutting in Twizel
Twizel is two and a half hours from Timaru, and we go. The drive is not the obstacle people assume it is.
What we have done in Twizel
Every line below is a job we posted about at the time. If it is not on this list, we have not claimed it.
-
Ten weeks of concrete cutting on Twizel's new school.
-
Work across the Mackenzie as part of our normal service area, which we have described publicly as Canterbury, North Otago and the Mackenzie since 2024.
-
Driven out at short notice for crews who arrived on site without a saw, which is how most of our long distance work has started.
The three we do most in Twizel
A job this far out has to be done in one trip, so we bring the floor saw, the road saw and the core rig and cut whatever is on the list while we are there.
Floor and slab sawing
Expansion cuts, early entry soft cutting and full depth slab cuts. Indoors with extraction, outdoors in one visit.
What we do
Road sawing
Trenches, service runs and pothole removal in road and yard slabs. Cuts to 340 mm in one pass.
What we do
Core drilling
Holes from 20 to 350 mm through reinforced walls, floors, brick and block. Extension bits when it has to go deeper.
What we doA job in full
Photographed on site, written up with what it took and what it shows.
Working in Twizel
Do you really travel to Twizel?
Yes. It is about two and a half hours from Timaru and we have spent ten weeks on a single job up there. If the work is worth the drive we will drive it, and we would rather tell you that than pretend we are around the corner.
Is there a minimum job for somewhere that far out?
There is no minimum job size, but there is a minimum sensible trip. For Twizel and the Mackenzie the answer is usually to bundle everything you need cut, cored or drilled into one visit, and we will price the trip rather than each cut.
What do you bring with you?
Everything the job needs, plus the spares. Two and a half hours from Timaru is too far to go back for a blade, so a Mackenzie trip goes out loaded with the floor saw, the road saw, the core rig, dust extraction and water.
The rest of the run
